Management & Staff » Phuong, Le Nhan
Dr. Le Nhan Phuong is Programme Director of the Population Health Programme.
Phuong had previously been a Programme Executive and head of the Viet Nam office since 2003. During this time, he played a key role in the development of Viet Nam's health infrastructure and human resources, and helped to craft critical public health policies -- including a new helmet requirement which has quickly and significantly reduced injuries and deaths among motorbike riders.
Phuong earned his B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and received his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati, and obtained his Master's degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. After starting his career as a physician in the US, he moved to Ha Noi to help develop public health initiatives. In 1999 after a chance (but fortuitous) meeting with Chuck Feeney at a public health seminar, Phuong joined Atlantic.
Phuong is based in Ha Noi, but in his capacity as Programme Director, spends significant time in New York, South Africa and in other Atlantic offices.
